Abies nordmanniana

Caucasian fir

Caucasian fir holds dense, dark green needles on a regular conical crown, growing to 20 to 25 m tall and 7 to 10 m across. Hardy to zone 5A, it keeps its lower branches well and is the usual choice where an even, symmetrical fir is wanted.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
