Acer palmatum 'Butterfly'

Japanese maple

Small green leaves edged in cream and pink give 'Butterfly' a fine, almost translucent texture. It stays at 2 to 4 m, is hardy to zone 6B, and the narrow upright habit suits a courtyard, a large container or a position beside a path.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
