Ailanthus glandulosa
Tree of heaven
Tree of heaven, listed also as Ailanthus altissima, develops quickly into a large tree with long pinnate leaves and greenish yellow flowers in summer. Its speed and its tolerance of poor ground come with vigorous suckering, so placement needs thought.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
