Arbutus unedo 'Compacta'

Arbutus unedo 'Compacta'

Strawberry tree

This selection of the strawberry tree grows more slowly than the type and fruits heavily, so the crop stays visible on a compact, well-furnished framework. Evergreen and hardy to zone 8B, it can be held as a large shrub or trained up to 6-12 m as a small tree.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
