Butia capitata (Cocos Australis)

Jelly palm

Arching, finely divided fronds in grey-green with blue tones recurve strongly towards the trunk, giving Butia capitata a distinctly rounded crown. Growth is slow; in time the palm makes 4-8 m in height with a 3-5 m spread, and it is hardy to zone 8.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
