Caesalpina gilliesii
Bird of paradise shrub
Upright shoots carry finely divided, feathery foliage and stand-up yellow flower spikes through summer. The habit is open and erect rather than bushy, so the branch structure stays visible. Caesalpinia gilliesii asks for full sun, sharp drainage and a warm, sheltered position.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
