Crataegus monogyna 'Stricta' (Fastigiata)
Common hawthorn
Branches rise steeply to form a narrow, upright crown, so this hawthorn takes up little lateral room. At 5 to 7 metres tall and 4 to 5 metres wide it is a genuinely small tree, suited to narrow streets, courtyards and tight planting strips.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
