Davidia involucrata
Handkerchief tree
White bracts hang in pairs beneath the branches in late spring and are the most striking feature of the tree. Davidia involucrata grows conically to 8 or 15 metres with a spread of about 7 metres, carrying dark green leaves on a deciduous frame that wants shelter and decent soil.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
