Eriobotrya japonica
Loquat
Large leathery evergreen leaves with deep veining make the loquat recognisable at a distance, and the yellow fruit that follows is edible. Eriobotrya japonica reaches 6 to 10 metres in height and 5 to 8 metres across, a familiar courtyard tree in Mediterranean gardens.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
