Laurus nobilis

Laurus nobilis

Bay laurel

Bay laurel is an evergreen with aromatic, glossy green leaves, growing 5-15 m tall and 5-10 m wide when left to itself. It responds well to clipping, which is why it is so often kept as a hedge, a cone or a standard on a clear stem. Hardy to zone 8B.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
