Mahonia Soft Caress
Unlike most mahonias, this one carries narrow, soft green leaflets with no spines, so it can be planted right beside a path. Lemon-yellow flowers are followed by small blue berries. It keeps to about 0.9-1.2 m each way and is evergreen; zone 6B.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
