Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Niger'
Black mondo grass
Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Niger' is grown for its narrow, near-black leaves, held in a stiff, upright tuft. Lilac flowers appear among the foliage and are followed by round black berries. It spreads slowly by short runners and works best in a solid group.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
