Parrotia persica
Persian ironwood
Oval leaves turn yellow and orange before falling, on a deciduous tree that spreads almost as wide as it is tall, roughly 8-12 m by 8-10 m. Older trunks shed bark in plates and leave a mottled surface. Zone 5A; give it space and sun for the best autumn colour.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
