Sequoia sempervirens
Coast redwood
Vigorous conifer of conical outline, clothed in green needle foliage arranged in flat sprays. Growth is fast once the tree is established, and the trunk develops thick, fibrous reddish bark. A tree for parks and large landscapes rather than garden-scale planting.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
