Giant reed
'Golden Chain' repeats the tall cane structure of the species, but with green leaves striped in golden yellow, so the clump reads as light rather than solid green. Place it where the variegation catches side light and where the spreading rhizome can be contained.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
