Cornus florida

Flowering Dogwood

Flowering dogwood carries broad white bracts along horizontal branches in spring, above plain green leaves. It makes a small tree of 6–10 m with a 4–8 m spread, is hardy to zone 6B, and prefers a light, acid to neutral soil that does not dry out.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
