Corylus colurna

Corylus colurna

Turkish hazel

Corylus colurna grows with an unusually regular columnar outline for a hazel, carrying dark green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. It is a large deciduous tree, 15 to 20 metres tall and 8 to 12 metres wide, with a straight leader that suits avenue and park planting.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
