Prunus avium
wild cherry
The wild cherry flowers white in April and May, before the crown fills out. The fleshy fruits that follow are edible but bitter, and birds take them quickly. A large deciduous tree of 15-20 m with a crown of 10-15 m, hardy to zone 5A.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
