Pink flowers cover the bare branches in spring, opening ahead of the leaves. The foliage that follows is deep purple and holds that colour until leaf fall. Widely used as a small street or garden tree where a dark accent is wanted.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre.
