Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia'
Black locust
Golden yellow foliage through the season, carried on shoots armed with red thorns. The tree reaches 12-15 m but stays narrow at 4-6 m across, so the colour can be used in tight places. Best sited out of strong wind, since the wood is brittle.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
