Sambucus nigra 'Aurea'

Golden elder

Golden-leaved elder, deciduous, making a broad shrub of 4-6 m in height and spread. The yellow foliage is produced freely, and scented white flowers open in spring in flat heads. Cutting back in late winter keeps the colour bright and the bush in scale.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
