Sambucus racemosa 'Sutherland Gold'

Sambucus racemosa 'Sutherland Gold'

Red elderberry

The finely cut leaves open bronze and turn gold as they mature, so young and older growth differ in colour. Yellow-green flowers are carried in panicles rather than flat heads. Deciduous, and the colour holds better out of the hottest midday sun.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
