White single flowers with a red heart make a plain, legible combination that has kept this old selection in use. The deciduous shrub grows upright to 2-3.5 m by 2-2.5 m and is planted as a specimen, in groups, or as a seasonal screen in sun.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
