Magnolia sieboldii

Magnolia sieboldii

Oyama magnolia

White flowers shaped like shallow tulips show a red centre as they open. The shrub is deciduous, broad and open in build, reaching about 3-6 m high and 3-5 m wide. Light shade and cool, moisture-retentive soil give the best growth.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
