Magnolia 'Susan'
Red-purple flowers appear even on young plants, which makes 'Susan' useful where an early effect matters. It stays fairly narrow for a magnolia, about 4-6 m high and 3-4 m wide, and is deciduous. Sun or light shade, on soil that stays moist without waterlogging.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
