Fagus sylvatica 'Asplenifolia'

Fern-leaved beech

Cut-leaved form of the common beech: the dark green leaves are drawn out into narrow, deeply divided lobes that give the whole crown a fine, feathered texture. Vigour matches the species at 25-30 m tall and as much across, so it needs an open site to be read properly. Zone 5B.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
