Fagus sylvatica 'Purple Fountain'

Purple Fountain beech

Grafted narrow weeping beech with red foliage and shoots that fall from the base of the crown towards the ground. The wood is tough rather than brittle, so the hanging branches hold their shape. Reaching 8-10 m by 4-6 m, it fits a courtyard or a town garden. Zone 5.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
