Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea Pendula'

Weeping purple beech

Red-leaved weeping beech, propagated by grafting, with shoots that hang almost vertically from the head. Height and spread are given as 15-25 m, so it wants an open position where the falling curtain of dark foliage can develop fully. Zone 5.

About sizes
CLT is a container volume in litres, VRL the same in a decorative red container. M is a field-grown plant lifted with its root ball, MGR the same grown in isolation and wire-balled. RN is bare root, available in the dormant season. T is a full standard and POT a planter. Heights are given as a range in centimetres; trunk girth is the circumference measured at one metre. A larger container is not always dearer: a trained or grafted form of the same volume costs more than a bush, and the form is named on the row.
